Direct Classification

Screening is a mechanical action which consists of separating solids of different size by means of a grid or perforated panel. It can be carried out through dry or wet sorting. Depending on the sizes of the components to be separated, different terms are used to designate this technique:

  • Scalping for particularly large blocks;
  • Sieving for grain sizes ranging from between 1mm to 10cm;
  • Screening for grain sizes between 40 µm and 1mm.

The CTP has available a series of screening and sieving equipment operating continuously.
